My Storyboards

Above: first storyboard to be part of a final project. This was created as part of the YCN brief I did last year for an project I finished with this a part of it.

Ive always liked making storyboards, I like to plan and see this as the perfect way to. I didn't ever think of it as anything other than a plan as I feel my drawing skills aren't good enough to warrant it as anything else.

This has changed this year, above is a storyboard I created at the start of the year that I felt was effective enough and as a result didnt want to create the animation in the end. I appreciate how storyboard as worked up as this could translate directly to the finished product by just editing these images together but storyboarding has always been a plan for me. I was too precious with this storyboard and it didnt serve the needs I wanted it to. I like a storyboard to basically outline what will happen rather than wha it will look like. I like to see what needs to happen in what order and then enhance the story visually during the creation process that is sometime experimental and therefore I cannot know before-hand exactly how it will look. A good example of this is the walk through the city in the YCN animation that was a simple part of the plot enhanced by me illustrating a revolving city.
